You don’t always have to see your GP...

Your GP can help with a range of problems but there’s a whole healthcare team available to you ranging from your local pharmacy for self care advice to opticians for all things eye related, dentists for all things mouth related and of course 999 or A&E for emergency situations. Please remember to make use of the extended care team available in your community.

Why does the receptionist need to ask me what's wrong with me?

Right Care Right Place

At the Moray Coast Medical Practice we ask all patients requesting an 'emergency' appointment for brief details of their symptoms/problem.  This is not the receptionist being nosey but allows us to ensure that patients see the right person within the right timescale.

Zero Tolerance Policy

In line with the NHS zero tolerance guidelines on abuse of patients and staff, this Practice will not tolerate any incidents of violence, aggression and/or rudeness by ANY patients to the Practice Staff and/or patients either physically, verbally or through social media.
In the event of a patient being rude to Practice Staff or to other patients within the Surgery, or by patients using threatening and/or abusive language on the telephone, or posting derogatory remarks on social media, the Practice Manager will be informed. A warning letter will be issued to the patient and continued inappropriate behaviour may result in the patient being removed from the practice list.

Urgent 'on the day' appointments

Patients with an urgent problem that requires same‑day attention will be asked to provide a contact number. A member of our emergency clinical team will call you back to assess the issue and either provide advice over the phone or arrange a time for you to attend the surgery if an examination is required.

At busy times, particularly when demand for urgent appointments is high, response times may vary and it may not always be possible to address every request on the same day.
